A statement from Nils S. Andersen, CEO of the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group, on the occasion of the death of Senior Partner Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller.
It is with sorrow, that we in the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group have received the announcement about the death of Senior Partner Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller.
The respect for the initiative and the wish to be useful was firmly established in the heritage, which Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller received from his father, Mr. A.P. Møller. Inspired by his father, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller placed himself as an example for others and fulfilled the objectives of the founder.
Characteristically, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller led the employees of the Group by example. The values inherited from A.P. Møller; constant care, uprightness, humbleness, our employees and our name were affirmed by Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller, and Mr. Møller’s business principles were communicated to later generations in all parts of the organisation to promote the reputation and development of the company.
Persistence and energy characterised Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller’s endeavours. Foresight, careful preparations and a never failing commitment minimised the risks, often of a considerable size. Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller was praised for his business talent and visions and he supported initiatives that changed the direction of the company and impacted societies here and there.
Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller made significant decisions on investments, which have put the Group’s activities at the forefront within shipping and energy. Employees all over the world have been motivated for an extra effort by a demanding, but inspiring leader.
In the entire Group, in Denmark as well as in the offices around the world, we will remember Mr. Møller for his great contribution to the company and for the many initiatives, which also have been beneficial to the society. Let us respect his memory.
